"Brokiga" at Photowall

The “Brokiga” (“multicoloured”) world created by Stina and Carin Wirsén has joined forces with Photowall. The Brokiga collection is a series of wall murals designed by Stina Wirsén, one of Sweden’s best-loved illustrators, and her mother Carin. The collection is based on illustrations from an extremely popular series of 40 children’s books, produced by the Wirséns, which are sold in large editions both in Sweden and across the world.

Now this mother and daughter team has joined forces with the wallpaper distributor Photowall, with brightly coloured results. The wall murals are covered in a motley variety of small figures with plenty of personality and attitude, spreading happiness among people both young and old. The designs are expressive and decorative without being saccharine. Happiness, mischief, frustration and anger: every emotion is expressed in the world of Brokiga. Carin and Stina’s work is art in a small yet warm-hearted and friendly format.The “Brokiga” wall mural collection includes 19 different wall mural motifs, including “Brokiga Bokstäver”, “Brokigt Kalas”, “Utanför Kojan Strax Bedvid Gojan” and many other fun wallpaper designs derived from the book “En liten skär och många små brokiga” (“A little pink one and all the little multicoloured ones”).

More information about the people behind “Brokiga”

Stina Wirsén has been the head illustrator for the newspaper Dagens Nyheter since 1997. In her newspaper illustrations, she deftly switches from genre to genre, covering topics such as fashion, literature, psychology and many more. She also applies the same approach to the children’s books she
illustrates.

Carin Wirsén is a children’s author whose book “Rut och Knut” (“Ruth and Knut”) was awarded the “Heffaklumpen” children’s book prize by the Expressen newspaper in 2007. Carin’s work was originally inspired by her keen interest in early speech development and the formation of concepts among
children.
