Fold decorative poinsettias of wallpaper

The Christmas star is a fun and nice Christmas DIY that sets the mood immediately. That it can also vary in shape and size makes it relevant year after year. In this article, we show you how to make glittery decorative stars to decorate the packages, decorate a set table or hang in the Christmas tree to name a few examples.

Small stars of wallpaper

Difficulty

Easy

Time required

20-30 min

For 2 stars you need:

  • Wallpaper 10x45 cm
  • Ruler
  • Pen
  • Scissors
  • String
  • Glue gun
  • Glitter
  • Liquid glue
  • Brush

Start by cutting or cutting out a strip of your wallpaper that measures 10 x 45 cm. (Photowall's tapestries are 45 cm wide, so we take the opportunity to make two stars at once.) Fold it in half and divide, now you have two rectangles that are 22.5 x 10 perfect for two small poinsettias. Set one rectangle aside and do one at a time.

Fold the rectangle in the middle with the motif inwards. Make markings on the long side at the far end towards the edge at 2.5 cm, 7.5 cm, 12.5 cm and 17.5 cm. Move the ruler a little down on the paper and make markings at 0 cm, 5 cm, 10 cm, 15 cm and 20 cm. These dots will now form tips.

Cut the zigzag along your markings and finally cut off the last 2.5 cm exactly as in the picture.

Fold in accordion folding over the entire paper. Make sure that both the first and last folds go down. It is important for it to look good when you put the star together.

Brush glue along the outer edge of the star and sprinkle with glitter. Shake off any remaining glitter and allow to dry.

When the glue is dry, fold it up, spin it around and tie it tightly in the middle with a string.

Glue the openings together with a glue chair or other quick-drying glue. Pinch and let dry.

Do the same with your second rectangle and you now have two nice poinsettias!

You can use these stars for many different things. Attach a string to one of the tips and you have a beautiful Christmas tree pendant to hang on the tree.

You can also decorate a set table or make placement cards of the stars. Place a small handwritten note on top of the star and place on the plate or at the napkin.

Or you can decorate your Christmas presents with a star for that little extra!

Vary your stars with different wallpapers. The wallpapers we have used here are Watercolor - Dark Emerald, Abstract Red, Marble Sands and Marble Breeze - Ivory.
