He went to attend school at Parsons as well as the School of Visual Arts in New York.
After studying, he first worked for a number of years in the retail industry before working as a Creative Executive at Ralph Lauren for over fifteen years. The designs of Mark Cunningham
Authenticity is the hallmark of good design. Mark Cunningham and Sam Hamilton, a former Ralph Lauren colleague, designed the interiors of an Arts and Crafts - era house in Marfa. This was designed as a second home for her. Mark Cunningham designed a new kitchen and bathrooms and filled the home interior with an eclectic mix of American and European pieces that was meant to look as if it had been accumulated for decades.
He also helped in finishing the vacation house on Martha’s Vineyard, where he incorporated pieces that the owners already have. He also mixed antiques with new pieces such as the great room’s sofa by the British designer, Rose Uniacke and works of artists like Ellsworth Kelly, Louise Nevelson and Richard Diebenkorn.
